Facebook's Top 5 application is ruining the idea of Top 5 lists. Now people can merely sit around and, using a helpful graphical interface that provides you with options, choose Top 5 anything. Stupid. Top 5 lists are all about sitting around and really contemplating whatever it is you are trying to make a list of. Here at PtP I feel we have really mastered this formula. We don't just sit down and make fifteen top 5 lists in one day. It takes time. Don't just throw your answers out there. Don't rely on someone's prompting to declare what Top 5 Actors You Want to Punch in the Face. You will probably forget Gilbert Gottfried or that dude from the Princess Bride who tries to poison the hero.
So please people, don't just haphazardly throw around these Top 5 lists. To some of us, Top 5 really means something, and we want to keep it that way.
Who cares about Top 5 lists with integrity?

Top 5 things that suck about Facebook:
ReplyDelete1) Applications;
2) Narcissists;
3) Excessive, often meaningless or mundane, updates from people with too much time on their hands;
4) Having to listen to people complain when Facebook changes its format;
and finally,
5) Being stalked.
